KLCC (Kuala Lumpur City Center) is one of my favourite areas to stay in Kuala Lumpur. Amazing public transport, quality accommodation and world-class shopping make it one of the best areas to stay during your holidays in KL. During my first visit to Kuala Lumpur, I stayed at the Concorde Hotel within walking distance of Menara KL.
Bukit Nanas Train station is situated opposite the hotel. MRT is the best way to commute in KL, connecting major tourist hubs, including Bukit Bintang KL Sentral. Bus service is a very efficient and affordable option.
The iconic Petronas Tower is the heart of KLCC, attracting millions of visitors. The Aquaria KLCC, KLCC Park, and Suria KLCC Shopping Malls are located close to each other.
In front of the Petronas Tower, you'll find two centrally located luxurious hotels: Traders Hotel and Mandarin Oriental Hotel. I stayed at both during my later visits and appreciated the convenient access to KLCC Park and the food court at KLCC Suria Shopping Mall. Traders Hotel offers a buggy service for guests heading to KLCC Suria.
Several overhead walkways have been constructed, linking various hubs in the area and making it convenient to explore without using the main roads.
The second most iconic spot, Menara KLCC, offers a panoramic 360-degree view of Kuala Lumpur. Its revolving restaurant and a glass-floor observation deck make it a popular place to visit with kids. If you're staying at Concorde Hotel or Oasis Suites KLCC, you can easily reach this attraction within a 10-minute walk.
The block around Jalan Sultan and Jalan Ampang has many quality serviced apartments and hotels in all price ranges. With such high competition and demand for hotels in the area, the quality of service and facilities are world-class.
I highly recommend booking in advance to get the best rates for long-term stays.
Most establishments include FREE breakfast and parking for promotions which would otherwise cost from USD 20-30 per day.
For a distinctive dining experience, don't miss the SkyBar at Traders Hotel in Shangri-La and Marinis 57. These fantastic venues offer a stylish ambience and unmatched views of KL's skyline. Their signature cocktails and beverages include non-alcoholic options, making them ideal for everyone.
A diverse selection of international and Asian fusion cuisine guarantees a delightful experience for food enthusiasts. I enjoyed the free access to Skybar during my stay at Traders Hotel. The live music and vibrant atmosphere is not to be missed while in KL.
The area around KLCC is home to numerous well-known restaurant chains such as TG Fridays, Hard Rock Cafe, and Gravy Baby. It is also a favourite spot for Indians and Pakistanis, offering a variety of spicy dishes at Indian restaurants.
KLCC boasts a vibrant array of bars and nightclubs that remain open until the early hours. Zion Night Club, Kyo Kuala Lumpur, and Maestro KLCC Star Boulevard are lively venues that draw large crowds throughout the weekend.
For enthusiasts of Indian music, Jalan P. Ramlee features a variety of live music venues and restaurants that appeal to a Western audience. This fascinating street links KLCC with Bukit Bintang. At night, you'll encounter bustling crowds, lively music, and a lot of activity.
The vibrant tourist area of Bukit Bintang is located less than 2km from KLCC and can be easily accessed via the KLCC-Bukit Bintang Pedestrian Walkway with a leisurely 25-minute walk. Alternatively, you can take a train or bus, that will get you to Bukit Bintang in under 10 minutes.
